“I dreamt I heard him murmuring,
murmuring as if in sleep, himself…”

Howell’s Decision
An Aria From an Imagined Opera, 5 minutes
Baritone, piano reduction
Commissioned by the National Opera Studio
First performance: 14th June, 2018, Hoxton Hall

Lewis and Laura were commissioned to write a bespoke aria for one of the exceptional Young Artists at the National Opera Studio as part of the 12:40 project in 2018, celebrating the organisation’s 40th birthday.

Baritone Edmund Danon and pianist Igor Horvat premiered the piece, alongside new works for each of the other Young Artists written by eleven other composer/librettist teams.

A full chamber opera, Keeping The Light, is currently in development.

12:40 was produced in partnership with Second Movement and in association with The Librettist Network.
