A Manchester Songbook

A Manchester Songbook

A Manchester Songbook was an exploration in collaboration between writers and composers in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and The Writing Squad. The project was devised and led by Lewis and Laura, and comprised practical workshops interwoven with one-to-one mentorship.

Following the first workshop, writers and composers were carefully paired to write bespoke solo songs for singer and piano, resulting in a public showing at the RNCM.

The Squad writers taking part were Andrew Owen Cook, Elizabeth Lomas, Gregory KearnsHannah SowerbyJames Varney and Katie Byford.

The RNCM composers were Athanasia Kontou, Charlotte Marlow, Jingyu Chen, Lucy Hale, Robert Smith and William Hearne.

Performers were sopranos Helen Te and Dasha Papysheva, baritone Patrick Relph and pianist Brian Low.
